Had one grab handle walk under my stand friday night.  Fun to watch.  He looked right at me and slowly walked away.  When he got a little down wind, he could smell something but wasn't sure what it was.  Never did seem to be alarmed.  Tonight saw a monster about 100 yards from the stand as I was walking out.  He never did see me, but walked into the corn rows never to be seen again tonight.  Tried to rattle and call tonight without sucess.  Will hit it hard the next week and a half.

I haven't seen much the past couple of times out.  Farmers are busy picking, dragging and plowing every field in sight around my stands.  I think there's too much commotion.  May be it will be better by this weekend as they finish their field work.

I have been out 4 of the last 6 days and have seen little bucks and many does each time.  The little guys are really running the does...  I saw two nice bucks one morning and they didn't seem bothered at all by the little bucks chasing the does.  The rut has defintely started, but I think it will be another week before the big boys get crazy!!  Just as sloughshark said.....we only have a week and a half left before things get really tough.

I only have a doe tag left to fill, but that'll be my luck that "the monster" will probably stand under me.  Oh, well.  That's why we go out.

I got this beauty 5x7 thursday morning, I had been hunting him all season and finally got  a visual and a chance at him.  rough scored he grosses 163 4/8 and nets 148 3/8.  Im gonna do a pedestal mount on him, hell make a great addition to the shop.  The deer are really moving and a lot of nice deer are starting to come in.  Should be a great rifle season.  Just a quick reminder about my big buck contest, no entry free and a lot of great prizes.  I will be at the shop all most of this weekend and all day monday tuesday and wednesday to accomodate the rifle hunters.  Good luck to all this weekend and the rest of the season.

Nice one tyler!  I am definitely still in the bow mode with the deer still rutting.  I saw another good one today in the heavy wind.  I did a little spot and stalk and got within 80 yards before the does caught wind of me.  He took off with them, but he never knew I was there.  Still seeing lots of deer daily and they are moving all day long.  I have been hunting morning and evenings for the past 6 days and have had killable deer everyday, just waiting for the right one :)  Hate to see rifle start saturday.  Wish it was one week later like the old days.
