anyone been fishing lake poinsett lately??  we are thinking about heading up there this weekend, but didn't want to make 100+ mile trip if the fish weren't biting.  also anyone know if the state park ramp is accessible or is pressed root still the only one???

25-06:  Just FYI, "pressed root" as printed in the SD sportsman's atlas is /was a typo.  Locally we refer to that area as "Prestrudes".  We've had a good laugh over this over the years.   Pretty easy to see how it probably happened.  Poinsett has been pretty good to those willing to put in the time this summer.  Good luck.  ;D

Both are fairly shallow, have to be careful.  Fishing has been fair, nothing spectacular.

THanks for the tip Slip Bobber, it will keep me from embarrassing myself at the local watering holes in the evening after we either caught or limit of nice hearty walleyes or caught a nice buzzzzz because the fish weren't biting (so either way we will caught something)  Depending on the scenery, might be spending alot of time near the State Park   :)

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Fished Ponisett June 29-30. We got one keeper walleye each day. Spinner and night crawler.

Dry Lake #2 is the place to be. Went there on July 1. Got 7 walleyes in 4 hours. Nice fish -17 to 20 inches.
