Broadheads
« on: March 22, 2007, 09:35:37 AM »
New to bow hunting this year and am wondering if anybody can help.  I bought 125 grain field tips with the intention of getting 1 and a eigth inch cutting diameter.  I have found broadheads that have the same cutting diameter in 100 grains.  As far as I know your arrow should fly faster w/ 100 grain tips, and also that impact is velocity squared times mass.  Any help would be appreciated.

Slick Tricks would be a broadhead you would appreciate.  I think cabela's has started carrying them as does scheel's.  You can google them and find their website.  I shot them last year and they fly like a dart.  They carry 100 and 125 grain heads.  They have german stainless steel blades that are .035 thick.  It is a nice interlocking broad head that punches big holes through deer.  Last year they were hard to find, but should be easier with cabela's and scheel's carrying them.

Went to scheel's and Archery Outfitters today to pickup some new arrows and Slick Trick broadheads that I had mentioned.  Picked up some new 100gr. heads with "1 1/8 cutting diameter.  I had AO make 1/2 dozen new arrows dipped and crested.  Put them together tonight.  I can't wait to get them bloody.

A side note to AO.  The guy I liked there the most Mark, has left for a job a Scheel's.  He was a 1/2 partner at AO and decided to part ways.  That kind of sucks because he was very likeable and knowledgeable.  His other partner leaves alittle to be desired at times.  Might have to make a few more trips to scheel's instead.  Hate to give the big chains business if I don't have to, oh well.

Yeah I would really not deal with Kim if I didn't have too.  He lacks quite a bit in the personality department...lol.  Without Mark around, I'm sure AO will slowly fade.  I had some friends run into Mark at Scheel's and said he is still his same old helpful self.  Maybe he will open up his own shop eventually.  He would have a following I'm sure, me included.  I had the same experiences with Kim when I purchased my bow.  Flopped down around $1200 bones for bow and accessories.  Kim acted like he was almost inconvienced with my purchases.  If it wasn't for Mark, I would have closed the old wallet and walked away.  His attitude will slowly kill him in my opinion.  He should stick to his other business and hire someone with some personality.
