The Florida man charged with killing a fellow hunter in north-central South Dakota last fall has been killed in an auto accident.
Corson County Sheriff Keith Gall says 32-year-old James Napier
of Monticello, Florida, died in Georgia last month after losing
control of the pickup he was driving.
He was scheduled to return to South Dakota this week and stand
trial in McIntosh on drug, gun and vehicular homicide charges.
Gall says Napier was likely chasing a deer with a pickup in
November when he ran over his friend, 43-year-old Ruben Carlton of
Moultrie, Georgia. He later died at a Fort Yates, North Dakota,
hospital.
