I believe your talking about Henry WPA or larson slough. From hwy 19 and the old franklin school corner go west to 444 then north 3/4 mile to the tree grove there is an access rode with parking right at the lake. There is a large tower on the west side of the rode. I was there two weeks ago and caught several 10" eyes. This was a trophy perch producer but the perch are elusive and it gets annoying unhooking these little eyes....

It sounds right from your description of the slough, but I have never accessed it from that direction that you are describing.  There is a couple towers around it, but I don't know the street numbers and always take an oil road south to a walk on access.  There very well could be more access spots to it it is a quite large slough.  We always called it the Hoot slough.

I was fishing in the shack and I could hear this strange sound and couldnt imagine what it was. It was pretty early in the morning yet and it was really foggy. I open the sahck as curiousity was killin me and across the lake on the east side is 2 hoots on an old ford tractor whippin around on the ice. They slid around for a good 10 minutes then headed up over the hill.  If you take 81 n out of salem to 444 av then go east till you are straight south of that antenna its a mile north on the east side of the road.......There are jumbo perch in there but are hard to find and them little 10" eyes are pesky.......
