rain
« on: March 23, 2009, 07:17:57 AM »
I heard last night that they had flash flood warnings in the oldham/lake preston area.  Has anybody up that way noticed if there's water flowing into thompson?  sure would be nice if the lake level would rise a bunch.

There is a lot of standing water just east of thompson and up by hetland from the rain. The lake did come up a little as there was finally water flowing under the bridge on the grade. Other than that it really didnt do much for the lake.

heard there was 3-5 inches of rain between lake preston and arlington.  how much of that winds up in thompson, probably not much, it will probably just all run out the south end.

Drove by Thompson on the Grade. Looks like 99% of the ice is gone. However the lake is still 8.5' lower than it was in 1997. Going to take several rains like the last to fill it back up.

How much higher can it rise, before it goes through the culverts the state installed?

I forgot about the culverts.
At what elevation were they to keep the lake level at?
Can't seem to find anything on the net about them.

Isn't there culverts to the south of the lake? I know there is a couple on the south east side of the lake and they had a good flow of water into the lake through them last time i was by.

They were installed years ago when the lake was flooding.  They are about 6 miles south of the Oldham tar on a east- west county gravel.  As I recall they had about 2 feet of water in them at that time.  They ought to be high and way dry now.
