Mountain lion sitings in Louisiana
« on: October 11, 2008, 04:53:57 AM »
I was watching the 6 AM news this morning and they showed two pics of a mountain lion, taken in two different parrishes(counties) with a game camera. The state GF&P or DNR or what the hell ever they're called has confirmed it is a mountain lion. Only the 2nd and 3rd sitings in Louisiana in modern times acording to the TV news and the stat GF&P.

Lol, damn big cats from the Hills really get around. Not that I know it came from the Hills tho. Just tweaking whoever it was that freaked out about big cat sightings in Eastern, SD.

ROTF, I think the LA sharpshooter is eating Gumbo in New Orleans. Funny, no one seems to think to much of it or worry about it down here. Of course when ya got gators galore and water moccasins and other assorted deadly crap a mountain lion is just another pussy cat.

The albino twi squirrels at LSU got more publicity than the mountain lion did. Maybe the figure the gators will get the lion. ;)

I believe you're right.  You hear more aboout gators getting someone or their pet way more than a mountain lion.  Like most wild animals, they'd rather avoid humans.

They had a mountain lion just northeast of Shreveport yesterday. LA GF&P put two tranq darts in it. The cat fell out of the tree and died from the fall. They think it came up from farther south. Lol, it's only about 200 miles to the Gulf of Mexico so it didn't come from to far south. Gotta ask someone if they have mountain lions back in the swamps. LA sent it for an autopsy but don't know if I'll hear where it really came from.
