Thompson Bass Ice fishin question
« on: December 11, 2011, 10:09:15 PM »
Thought I had asked back this summer but I looked and seems I didn't...anyone know where the white/silver bass in Thompson came from?  Not that I want to catch any icefishing but do they not bite alot during the winter?  If i remember right my fishing brothers told me that the white/silver bass have been in Thompson for a few years but I don't recall catching any ice fishing there ever.  Last time we were up there summer/fall fishing there was a guy who reeled in 5-6 bass while we loaded the boat up...they seemed to be hitting everything...so I'm curious did the bass population xplode this summer in Thompson or do they not bite much in the winter?  Should I expect to catch some bass there this year ice fishing?

Once in awhile you will catch one ice fishing. They don't bite much in the winter.

Back in the 70's we would catch as many silver bass as perch on the ice in Big Stone.  I say they bite in the winter.  Must not be many in there.

If they're there they will bite.  You catch tons of little ones at Lake Hendricks thru the ice. You hope to keep them off long enough to catch a perch.
