Cabin on Brandt
« on: January 08, 2007, 03:01:22 PM »
My folks are talking about purchasing a cabin on Brandt.  They were talking about selling their camper, and getting a cabin, cuz they don't like to pull it, and just want to go and relax type deal, but dad is concerned that it isn't the best fishing lake and could be a waste if we want to spend most our time fishing somewhere else anyway.  So what does everyone else think?  I am half in on the camper so I would buy out their share which is ok with me if that is what they want and then they would still be able to use the camper no doubt and I would the cabin as well.  It is pretty much the same as asking me to go in half on the cabin.  So what do you guys think.  I have never fished Brandt, but they were offered a good deal from a friend.

Thanks

There are nice fish in brandt.  All kinds of species too.  I would love to have a cabin there.  You are close to SF when you need to get something down there and your close to many other lakes if you want to fish somewhere else.  Also some decent duck and goose hunting around there.

Thanks for the reply, I think I am going up there to drill some holes this weekend and see whats out there and take a look, I would rather be up on Thompson on Twin Lakes Road, but then I would probably live there! ;D

i have caught very nice perch and walleye there during the summer months.   gets green and stinky occasionally just like every other lake around here but seems to always have a decent water level, like lake madison, when we get moisture, it fills up quick.

certain times of year would be a fun lake to shoot carp with bow and arrow, cause many times i have had them all  around my boat.
seems to me that cabins up there hold value well.  everyone i have ever talked to that has a cabin there is quite happy.  later

Brandt has a nice smallmouth population.  It can be tricky to fish in the winter as it gets real clear but there are some nice fish to catch if you put the work in....
