Big Stone Lake Fishing Report
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:44:27 PM »
The bite was on. Started on thursday. Limits of perch, no problem. The am is best. PM is slower, but productive. Had the big shack w/o the 5 year old twins this weekend. Man is there room when they aren't along. No comedy though. Bigest was 12 & 1/2. Lots of 8 to 10's. Spikes are the answer, although the big ones bit on minnows. GFP has been drilling holes along SD side from north of Hartford to the rearing ponds with perch in all locations. Walleye bite is slow to nothing, but I hope that will pick up also. Have been sleeping over, but no action after dark.

Pickups/4wd. Ulled it off on thurs. Plan on going back after the storm. 3 ft of ice, but snow melted and lots of slush.

2 ft of snow. Doomed for the big shack until next year. I'll be back when we can get out with the portables. Also, Traverse fishing reports will be forthcoming in the near future. By the way, Traverse is the "HOME OF HOGS" !

Sat. the 7th- Lots of large silver bass. Kept 4 15" eyes and a 18" perch. Got them before 5 pm. Casting bobbers w/jigs and minnows. Color didn't matter. Trolled after 7 pm. No good! The crew had fun. All caught fish. Fished Hiawatha/Camerons and Fish Creek areas. Probably moving to Traverse soon.

Warrior- Is that a misprint, or did you really get an 18 in. perch? If you did could you  please post a picture. That is a monster perch.

Sorry! The perch was about 11". Havent been out since then, but the boyz been doing great. You can take them from shore. Jig and twister tails/minnow ben doing great, PM & later. The lake has to be FULL! 2 -3 ft, don't need a boat. Moved the fish house to Traverse yesterday. Now's for the HOGS! Tell you soon.

I'm on Traverse. Memorial weekend til yesterday. Bite is good. There hitting minnows & crawlers. Drifting, trolling, bobbers. Drifting seems to be best. Islands, rock reefs and shorelines working well. 28" eye the best. Big bluegills are starting.
