Not exactly cats but I've used frogs on walleyes, very successfully, fishing from shore in the late fall when frogs are heading into the lake. Best at night or from dusk into full dark.

When I was a kid there were millions of frogs and now I hardly see any.

Crawdads for walleyes work too but you need to break the claws off the crawdads. Lol, never fished with them to much as didn't like getting pinched or breaking the claws off. Someone even sells crawdad scent for walleyes, or did in the past.

Huge frogs have also worked well for northerns but not so much in the fall like walleyes but more of an unfrozen water thing for northerns. Nothing better than big smelt for big northerns tho.

You break the claws off so the walleyes don't have to fight the dads. Makes it easier for them to eat them. ;)

I always fished frogs on the bottom. Used a plain hook and a 2-3 foor leader. Look at it like a lindy rig except with a bigger hook.  Always hooked them in the back leg, either one, and close to the frogs ass on the outide of the leg.
