Walleyes in Eastern SD

The walleyes are finally biting on Lake Thompson and other area lakes. Some good reports have been coming in on the fishing forum. Seems they are catching walleyes, at night, and the best times appear to be one half hour before to one half hour after sunset.

Best spots for walleyes on Lake Thompson seem to be the boat launch on 212th street on the East side of the lake and the Oldham grade at the South end of the lake. Some people are catching lots of walleyes in the 4-5 pound range and those are nice fish.

It also seems the northerns are hitting on Poinsett. Lol, well, if you take out the people attempting to snag them. Seems the GF&P is ticketing people for intentionally snagging northerns. Those people should be ticketed and lose thier fishing privelege for the rest of the year. It’s not sporting to say the least.

Been hearing about a few walleyes and northerns being caught at Dry #2 but they haven’t been to fast or to consistant. Sinai is said to be producing some fish but not much info on it either.

Anyway, the walleyes are finally starting to bite and the fishing should be good for awhile so get out and catch some walleyes and some northerns before the bite slows down.
