Spring Fishing in Eastern SD is getting better

Spring fishing in Eastern SD is slowly but surely getting better. There are now a lot of the area lakes with a good bite going on. Everything from Catfish, Walleyes,  Smallmouth Bass and even Northerns are hitting.

Seems Poinsett is one of the better lakes at the moment but Thompson is starting to get better as is Dry #2 if the rumor I heard is true. Minows have been good on Thompson but a few have come on crawlers and spinners.

That’s the one good thing about fishing. It always gets better in the spring and stays prety good until the lake warms up to much.  They’ve been getting a few bigger walleyes while wader fishing at night. That’s pretty normal ro Thompson.

Regarding fishing on Thompson, the fishing tournament had 59 entries as of this Wed. morning. There are only 21 spots left to fill the roster for this tournament so if you plan on fishing it you’d better be getting your applications in very soon.

The tournament fishing applications can be found at that link and are at the very bottom of the page.

Good fishing!
