Fishing With Night Crawlers

The Clean Theme When Fishing With Night Crawlers

By Robin Shortt

Want a good tip on how to keep your live night crawlers clean and easy to grab?

This tip is a cool one, and will help keep your boat mess free and your hands clean. I like this just for that alone.

Did you know that some species of night crawlers can grow to a length of 14 inches.

Bring along a clean margarine dish and grab some ice cubes from your cooler and put some water into the margarine container. Ad the ice cubes and grab a bunch of worms dirt and all. Put them in the water and ice. When you need a fresh night crawler it will come out nice and clean. After you are done fishing with them, you could put them on the lawn at night. They will help aerate your lawn.

Have you ever fished in an area that has barbless fishing only?

I’ve fished for pike and trout with barbless hooks. I didn’t find it much different then fishing with barbs on the hooks. In fact I found getting the hooks out much easier and less damage to the fish you release.

If your using live bait this is a good tip for keeping your bait on the hook. Take a piece of rubber worm and slip it on the hook right after the bait. This will allow the bait to move around more freely without slipping off the hook.

So just remember to bring your container, water and ice for the worms and a piece of rubber worm for your barbless hooks. Also don’t forget your camera to back up all your fish stories.
