In the world of carp fishing, there are many different types of angling equipment that every angler should have – but there are also those type of carp gear that many true beginners might not know about. While anyone who has done any type of fishing for any amount of time is familiar with equipment like fishing rods, reels, fishing line, and tackle, there are other pieces of equipment somewhat specific to carp fishing that beginning carpers might not know about.
#1: Carp shelters. Carp shelters are specific temporary shelters aimed with both single day and multi-day anglers in mind. There are several different types of these available, and they can range from a very simple small “tent” that is propped up by plastic poles in a tarp and tepee style, to an actual open fabric tent that offers room for a chair or a bed, and protection from sun or rain. These help make the angler comfortable for those long hours waiting for the carp to strike.
#2: Bite alarms. This might sound weird, but a lot of pro carpers set up three or more baited rods on special carp rod holders and wait. Well if you end up taking a nap or reading a book, you need some type of alarm to snap you to attention when a good sized fish takes your bait. Bite alarms serve this very specific purpose.
#3: Umbrellas. Similar to carp shelters, just easier to transport and more of a temporary solution.
#4: Portable fishing chairs. Just like it sounds like, these chairs are used to get off the feet and stay comfortable from one carp fishing location to the next.
These are just some of the pieces of equipment that new carp anglers may want to know about as they dive into this recreational sport.
