Top Tactics on How to Catch Bass

Author: Karen Winton

If you have, at some point in your life, tried bass fishing, surely you’d be aware that the process is not that simple. Questions like: how to catch bass and how to catch more bass may bother a lot of fishers. If you are one of them, do not despair. Below are top bass fishing strategies that are proven to work well:

1. Changing weather conditions means flexibility in fishing techniques

People who want to know how to catch bass in the correct manner should take the weather into consideration. The cooler the temperature, the more responsive the bass are to your baits. During the fall and spring seasons, bass are observed to settle in shallower parts of the river or the lake, making it easier to catch more bass whether you are using top of the line bass fishing equipment, or, just normal ones. When the weather is warmer, you have to try other strategies such as making sure that your line really hits the bottom to be able to lure the bass more easily.

2. Time is of the essence when fishing for bass

Bass are active in hunting for prey fishes during the early morning hours and early evening hours, specifically during summer months. This means that if you want to catch more bass in the summer, cast your bait during the above mentioned times. This tip doesn’t work, however, when the water is cooler e.g. during spring or fall.

3. Plastic worms are ‘in’.

The best bass fishing equipment, aside from the type of reel that you use, is your actual bait. Many bass fishers claim that plastic worms are the best baits to use. You may use plastic worms that vibrate when fishing for bass in muddy waters. Using dark colored plastic worms, on the other hand, is recommended whenever you want to catch more bass in a clear body of water.

4. Ask advice from people who are familiar with the area you are fishing in.

In the event that you are not familiar with how to catch bass successfully in a place that you’ve visited for the first time, do not be afraid to seek advice from residents of that area. You may also ask marine personnel or avid bass fishers like yourself about tips and tricks they may have learned from fishing more often in that certain location.

Merely casting bait into the water does not ensure you’ll catch a single bass. By finding out how to catch bass from reliable bass fishing experts, you’re sure to be on your way to ‘bass fishing heaven’.
