Finding The Perfect Boat to Fit your Family Needs

Finding the perfect boat for your family isn't that hard if you have some boating knowledge. It can be quite hard for the beginner tho. To help you find your perfect boat there are some things you should know.

Whats important to you is what is going to help you make the right choice in a boat. You should decide whats really important to you, whats important to your family and how you will be using the boat. whether it be fishing, tubing or just cruising around on the water. You probably should consider your families feeling and what they want also as buying one for just your own needs can cause problems or end up with much disappointment when you are all out on the water.

There are many different types of watercraft for you to choose from. At least five categories of floating craft including fishing boats, power boats sailboats, personal watercraft and self powered boats. Below you'll see what each one has to offer.

The design of a fishing boat can vary quite a bit, from a flatter bottom bass boat to a deep V for fishing in deeper or rougher water. Bass type boats are usually used in shallower calmer waters of inland lakes and streams and they aren't really meant of the oceans or places like the great lakes. There are so many different fishing boat designs and some of them are really only for fishing.

Boats made exclusively for fishing usually have a lot of places to stow things like rods, reels, tackle boxes and most anything else you can think of. They usually have a live well for bait and a fish well to keep your catch alive. Other types of fishing boats have an open platform so you can catch or fight fish for all parts of the boat.

Power boats are the most popular boats sold. I always wanted a cigarette boat like they had on Miami Vice. Fast, fast, fast. Once again the designs for power boats are as numerous as they are for fishing boats and not all are cigarette boats. Boats with seating in the front are called bow riders and are mainly used for towing tubes or skiers or just cruising. Some can be used for fishing as well but they aren't near as good for fishing as a real fishing boat.

When you are first learning to sail a boat it can be a bit hard but after you master it you will have a ton of fun. There is more to learn with a sailboat than there is with a power boat. The single masted sloop if the most popular design for sailboats. For those who only want to sail occassionally catboats, day sailers and dinghys are small and fit on a trailer.

The perfect boat for you is out there, all you have to do is find it.
